Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

shieldie.ai ("we", "our", "us") is a lookup of IP addresses that servers in the shieldie network have reported for attacks. This Privacy Policy explains what is processed when you use it, what the lookup publishes about IP addresses, how long data is kept, and who else receives it.

2. What we process when you look up an address

The address you enter: our server sends it to shieldie.cloud (our own service, see section 3) to fetch the result. Your own IP address is not sent there. The answer is kept in our server's memory for up to one minute so that repeated lookups are answered without asking again; it is not written to disk and not linked to you.

Your IP address: to limit abuse, the number of lookups per IP address (per /64 network for IPv6) is counted in memory for one minute. This counter is not written to disk.

Server logs: our web server records requests (time, IP address, requested path, user agent) for operations and security monitoring. The path of a result page contains the address you looked up. IP addresses that send attack traffic may be blocked automatically.

3. What the lookup shows about an IP address, and where it comes from

The data comes from shieldie.cloud, which collects reports from servers running shieldie guard. Each server reports addresses it banned for attacks against it; unless its operator turns it off (theshare_incidentssetting, on by default), it also sends a short summary of the incident. shieldie.ai shows only this set:

  • whether the address is on the shared blocklist, the reason the AI analyst gave, and until when it is blocked;
  • how many independent servers and networks reported it, how many reports and attempts, first and last report;
  • the kinds of attack (the protection rule that caught it), with counts per kind and per severity;
  • per incident: attack type, severity, the AI verdict, a short summary with names and addresses removed, hit count, times, and the country of the reporting server;
  • the country and network operator (ASN) of the address.

Never shown: names or addresses of the reporting servers, their installation identifiers, user names, raw log lines, or file paths from their systems. Incident summaries are kept by shieldie.cloud for 180 days. Result pages are marked "noindex" so search engines do not list them.

An IP address can be personal data. We publish these reports in the legitimate interest of protecting servers against attacks. If you believe an address is listed wrongly (for example, it is now assigned to you), write to privacy@shieldie.ai with the address and we will review it.

4. Third parties

We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. The only service the lookup contacts is our own shieldie.cloud.

5. Cookies and local storage

The public pages set no cookies and use no analytics or advertising services. Your language choice is stored in your browser's local storage (key "shieldie-locale") and never leaves your device. The restricted operator dashboard uses one strictly necessary login cookie ("__Host-shieldie_session", HttpOnly, valid for 7 days).

6. Retired shieldie agent (operator servers only)

The former shieldie agent, installed only by the operator on servers the operator managed, was retired on October 11, 2026 and no longer sends anything. Data it sent earlier (the server's host name, operating system and architecture, last-seen time, and its security scan results) is kept until the operator deletes the agent; its log entries were deleted automatically after 30 days.

7. Data retention

  • Lookup answers: up to 1 minute, in memory only. Per-IP lookup counters: 1 minute, in memory only.
  • Incident summaries at shieldie.cloud: 180 days.
  • Retired agents' data: until the operator deletes the agent.
  • Operator login sessions: 7 days, or until logout.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Request information about any data we may hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of that data
  • Object to its processing

9. Security

All connections to shieldie.ai use HTTPS.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
